Did you know this week is International Digital Inclusion Week (IDIW)?
Co-organized by National Digital Inclusion Alliance (of which Mobile Citizen is a proud member) and the Australian Digital Inclusion Alliance, IDIW 2018 takes place October 15-21. IDIW aims to increase awareness and commitment to digital inclusion, create opportunities for national focus, promote international engagement and learning, and act as a catalyst to build an enduring coalition of national digital inclusion alliances and international efforts to create global momentum towards a fully digitally included world. IDIW will build on the U.S. based Digital Inclusion Week (DIW) that took place May 7-11, 2018.
Looking for ways to celebrate this week of digital inclusion? We have a couple of ideas.
First, check out Digitial Inclusion Trailblazers, a joint project of NDIA and Mobile Citizen aimed at providing an inventory of local government initiatives promoting digital literacy and broadband access for underserved residents. You can even contact NDIA if you know of an initiative not currently listed.
Second, you can check out NDIA and Public Knowledge‘s Internet Discount Guidebook. Created with support from Mobile Citizen and Mobile Beacon, the guidebook has two goals.
First, to serve as a practical guide for digital inclusion practitioners — local community-based organizations, libraries, housing authorities, government agencies and others working directly with community members in need of affordable home broadband service. And second, to provide recommendations for policymakers and internet service providers to improve current offers and establish new ones.
Help amplify these valuable tools by sharing them on your social media.
