Eligibility Requirements

To be eligible for the grant program, organizations must fit the eligibility criteria.

Eligible schools and nonprofits include, but are not limited to, the following focus areas:

  1. Health, human & social services nonprofits
  2. Civil rights, social action & advocacy groups
  3. Environmental nonprofits
    1. Environmental alliance & advocacy organizations
    2. Wildlife preservation & protection groups
  4. Creative organizations
    1. Arts & humanities councils/agencies
    2. Media, publishing & communications nonprofits
  5. Community organizations & neighborhood development organizations
  6. Education/training organizations
    1. Public and private schools
    2. Educational alliances & advocacy groups
    3. Educational services nonprofits
    4. Vocational counseling and job training nonprofits
  7. Youth development groups
  8. Philanthropy and voluntarism foundations & grant-making foundations with annual budgets of less than $100,000

Ineligible nonprofits include, but are not limited to, the following areas:

  1. Commercial organizations, credit-counseling services, donation middleman services, and organiza tions that derive the bulk of their revenue from user!fees
  2. Organizations that are religious or political in nature are not eligible for the program unless they plan to use the mobile broadband accounts for social welfare, school, or community initiatives.
  3. Hate group organizations are not eligible to purchase accounts from Mobile Citizen.
